AGROVIM S.A. was established in 1994 as a continuation of the original company founded in 1964 by Andreas Gyfteas and its merger with the private organization D. Gyfteas & Co founded in 1972 by his son Dimitrios Gyfteas. Initially, AGROVIM mainly processed olive oil from the Kalamata region. Following various strategic investments, it increased its productivity and significantly improved its international competitiveness, while ensuring that the initial vision to offer products of exceptional attributes and traditional taste continued.
Olea Groves is located in an ideal coastal climate in the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece, a region with a long history of olive oil production. For several centuries, our 80 acres of fertile land have hosted thousands of fruitful Manaki and Koroneiki olive trees which are cultivated under our care following the strict rules of traditional farming. Two hundred of these trees are at least 2,000 years old.
Nestled into a hillside covered with olive groves in the village of Anoskeli in the Kolymvari Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) in northwest Crete, the Anoskeli S. A. company’s modern facilities produce award-winning extra virgin olive oil and wine. While smaller than its petroleum and shipping enterprises, the Mamidakis family’s olive oil business has grown large enough since its founding in 1983 to produce an average of 600 to 700 metric tons of olive oil annually for both domestic use and export.
Our young company has its roots in both family heritage and Greek tradition. We are Katerina and Filanthi Bougatsou, two sisters from the small town of Gargalianoi in western Messenia, Peloponnese, where our family has owned olive trees for five generations. We continue this tradition with the support of our father, aiming to create a unique olive oil with its own identity in terms of both quality and aesthetics. We cultivate the trees of our grandparents with love and attention, combining the best of established cultivation practices with new, improved certified methods.
